The 718 Cayman is yet another model out of the Porsche lineup to pay tribute to the iconic 718 race car. Since the debut of the first Cayman in late 2005, the mid-engine coupe has been revving the heartbeats of Porsche enthusiasts all over the world. After a comprehensive update the new 718 Cayman is here.
The 718 Cayman also underwent some major changes to the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Taking a look at the exterior updates you’ll see a wider front fascia with a newly designed bumper, bi-xenon headlights, and wider air-intakes. It’s striking. The 718 Cayman wheel options include a 19-inch standard fit and a 20-inch option. The rear end includes new accent trim and is wider than its predecessor. Fully geared for sporty performance, the interior updates include:
Redesigned Steering Wheel
New Air Conditioning Vents
Porsche Communication Management (PCM)
New Color Options
The interior of the Cayman is designed for you to drive, not ride. From strategic position of the gear shift and steering wheel to the arrangement of the controls, everything is centered around the user experience. Available power sport seats and a multi-functioning steering wheel bring it all home.
The two-seater features a newly developed four-cylinder flat engine, which despite dropping two cylinders from the previous model, delivers speed, power, and efficiency. The 718 Cayman specs include:
300 HP at 6500 rpm (350 HP at 6500 rpm for the S)
0-60 in 4.9 sec (0-60 in 4.4 sec for the S)
Top Track Speed of 170 MPH (177 MPH for the S)
The performance isn’t the only component of the Cayman that’s entertaining. A 7-inch color touchscreen monitor keeps you synced up to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system for the ultimate in-car driving experience. And it’s all controlled by voice recognition so the thrill of gripping the wheel is never interrupted.
How do you inject even more sport into a sports car? The Sport Chrono Package provides a boost to the Cayman’s engine, transmission, and chassis for enhanced braking, steering, cornering, and gear shifting. And it all happens with just the push of the Sport Plus button.
Porsche recognizes the correlation between performance and safety and that’s why the Cayman comes equipped with full-size airbags that are inflated in two stages depending on the type of collision. Front and rear crumple zones, impact absorbers, and energy-absorbing padding are used strategically throughout the body.
